VERIFICATION DEFINITIONS
A green check must say what earned it.
SerialCop separates registration, ownership claims, product status, and authenticity evidence. Verification labels describe the evidence actually supported by the record.
Registered
The product has a SerialCop record. A signed-in user has created an ownership claim. Registration alone does not prove authenticity, manufacturer origin, warranty status, legal title, or absence of external theft reports.
Pending review
Verification evidence has been submitted but no final SerialCop review decision has been recorded.
Owner evidence verified
SerialCop reviewed and accepted owner-submitted evidence for the Product Passport. This is evidence-based verification; it is not the same as direct confirmation by the manufacturer or retailer.
Retailer verified
The record is supported by an authorized or verified retailer source. The specific scope of retailer confirmation must be limited to the facts actually supplied by that source.
Manufacturer verified
The product identity is supported by a manufacturer or manufacturer-authorized source. This is SerialCop’s highest product-origin level when direct manufacturer evidence is available.
Rejected, disputed or revoked
Rejected means submitted evidence was not accepted. Disputed means an active conflict affects the product record. Revoked means a prior verification was withdrawn after later evidence or review. Public status must reflect these conditions rather than preserving a misleading verification badge.
No trust score yet
SerialCop does not publicly display an unexplained numerical trust score in private beta. Any future indicator must describe the completeness and consistency of the product record and expose the underlying reasons to authorized users.
